Questions About Mom. . .

So I saw this on Kelly's blog and thought it was so cute I decided to have a little fun with my boys - this is what we came up with:

KALE's answers will be in blue
KRIS's answers will be in green

1.  What is something mom always says to you?

Change your attitude
You tell me what to do

2.  What makes mom happy?

When I put things away
When I make the choices you want

3.  What makes mom sad?

I don't know  (with a grin that says he does know he just doesn't want to say it out loud)
When I don't get the privileges I want (No that makes you sad)

4.  How does mom make you laugh?

When you chase me up the stairs
When you say funny things

5.  What was mom like as a child?

You were bossy to Kasey (my little brother told stories while he visited last summer)
I wasn't born in our family

6.  How old is your mom?

31
7 - is that right? (I wish I was 7 again)

7.  How tall is your mom?

3 inches (apparently they haven't covered measurements in 2nd grade)
This tall (with his arms stretched up as far as he could reach)

8.  What is her favorite thing to do?

Feed the baby (Just because it's all I do does not mean it's my favorite thing to do)
Make families (Kyle agreed with this one!!!!)

9.  What does your mom do when you're not around?

Clean the house (always)
Cleaning (again - always)

10.  If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for?

For being smarter than she thinks (if he only knew)
Because you love dad (puzzled at first - then after I thought about it maybe he is smarter than I give him credit for)

11.  What is your mom really good at?

Writing in cursive (nice to know he thinks messy is cursive)
Singing at church

12.  What is your mom not very good at?

Driving (he's still alive so I can't be that bad)
Real Baseball

13.  What does your mom do for her job?

You don't have one (Well according to both my kids all I ever do is clean - maybe that's my job)
Vacuum (see my point)

14.  What is your mom's favorite food?

Apples  (Nope - Mashed Potatoes)
Apples  (Wow)

15.  What makes you proud of your mom?

You help me with the stuff I need help on
You make me proud because I want the things I want (yes I know you want what you want Kristopher)

16.  If your mom were a cartoon character who would she be?

Daphne (from Scooby Doo - I would just like everyone to know I have never worn a skirt that short in my life)
Curious George (I think he misunderstood the question - or did he?)

17.  What do you and your mom do together?

Argue (how true - I think they put something in the baptism water)
I'm not gonna tell (and he didn't no matter how hard I pressed him for an answer)

18.  How are you and your mom the same?

We both have blonde hair
We talk

19.  How are you and your mom different?

I don't clean and you do
You don't say bad words

20.  How do you know your mom loves you?

Because we are family
Because you give me hugs - can I have my popsicle now?

YES - I had to bribe my boys with popsicles to sit down with me for 10 minutes and answer these questions.

I just want to know why I don't have a sparkling clean house and a great body because according to my kids all I do is clean and eat apples!!!!

DRESS UP . . .

My Aunt Annie knitted this blanket,
along with the sweater, hat and booties
for my mom when I was born.
Before my mom passed away
she gave me a box
with a lot of my old clothes from when I was a baby.
When I pulled this set out -
I instantly remembered that I had a picture of me
wearing it all in my old photo album.
This is my attempt at re-creating the past.
I had fun playing dress - up . . .
I don't know if Karalyn felt the same way!

This is ME

This is KARALYN
This is ME and my MOM
(Kaylynn and Carolyn)

This is MY DAUGHTER and ME

Ahhhhh SUMMERTIME!!!

It was UNUSUALLY quiet in our house . . .
Kale was at Cub Scout Day Camp,
Kara was napping (I love that she loves her naps),

BUT, I didn't know where Kris was - I looked outside and this is what I found

I couldn't help but be jealous!
Not a care in the world -
just hanging out - eating an OTTER POP!!!

HERE ARE SOME OTHER ADVENTURES
WE HAVE HAD THIS SUMMER!

Family Night Miniature Golf!

After several attempts - Kris got smart!

Kale - In this game "getting it on the green" isn't a good thing!!!

And Kara says it all with this YAWN!!
I'm exhausted and it's only the 1st week of SUMMER!!!!

Today Is FLAG Day

I Am The Flag Of America

I am the flag of the United States of America.
My name is Old Glory.
I fly atop the world's tallest buildings.
I stand watch in America's halls of justice.
I fly majestically over institutions of learning.
I stand guard with power in the world.
Look up and see me.
I stand for peace, honor, truth & justice.
I stand for freedom.
I am confident.
I am arrogant.
I am proud.
When I am flown with my fellow banners,
My head is a little higher,
My colors a little truer.
I bow to no one!
I am recognized all over the world.
I am worshipped - I am saluted.
I am loved - I am revered.
I am respected - and I am feared.
I have fought in ever battle of every war for more than 200 years.
I was flown at Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Shiloh and Appamatox.
I was there at San Juan Hill, the trenches of France,
in the Argonne Forest, Anzio, Rome and the beaches of Normandy.
Guam, Okinawa, Korea and KheSan, Saigon, Vietnam know me.
I was there.
I led my troops, I was dirty, battleworn and tired,
But my soldiers cheered me and I was proud.
I have been burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries I have helped set free.
It does not hurt for I am invincible.
I have been soiled upon, burned, torn and trampled in the streets of my country.
And when it's done by those Whom I've served in battle - it hurts.
But I shall overcome - for I am strong.
I have slipped the bonds of Earth and stood watch over the uncharted frontiers of space
from my vantage point on the moon.
I have borne silent witness to all of American's finest hours.
But my finest hours are yet to come.
When I am torn into strips and used as bandages for my wounded comrades
on the battlefield,
When I am flown at half-mast to honor my soldier,
Or when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving parent
at the grave of their fallen son or daughter,
I AM PROUD!

As Tim Russert always said, "What a Country!!!!"

I Would Like To Introduce You To KRISTOPHER!!!

THIS IS KRIS!
He is very busy. . .
This is what he can do to his room on a 2 minute time out!

His two loves are BASEBALL. . .
And Star Wars!!!!

Some Dialogues with Kris:
Kris (holding some sort of weapon):  "Mom watch out or you will die!"
Mom: "What will happen if I die"
Kris: "You will go to heaven"
I of course see a teaching moment so I ask, "How do we get to heaven?"
(looking for the answer of making right choices but this is what I get. . .)
Kris: "You just go on the FREEWAY."

This is my favorite this week:
We have had some "potty" issues with Kristopher - so every day according to doctors orders Kristopher has to sit on the toilet for 10 minutes 3 times a day even if he doesn't have to go - long story - anyway after one of his sessions on the toilet (and actually a successful session) he got off the toilet and ran into the family room to find dad. He looked at Kyle and said:
"That was a long time s***ting on the toilet huh dad?"
(He really said sitting, but with his little lisp you can imagine)

Kris and I had a power struggle day yesterday so I needed this post to remind me of this SMILE!
I love you Buddy - Today will be better!!!!!
